Workin' For The Weekend - Cover Me

First of all, if you think this topic sucks, or if you've got a few ideas kicking around, go ahead and let me know about them at the WFTW mailbox.

In honor of Weird Al's new single "White & Nerdy", a cover of Chamillionaire's "Ridin'", this week's topic focuses on two topics: cover songs and parodies (not necessarily songs). Sure they're not original, but sometimes it's fun to hear another person's interpretation of a song, or take a genre and mock it lovingly. So drop the knowledge on us and give up your favorite covers/parodies. Here's a few to get you going:

Cover songs
Cake - "I Will Survive" (screw the girl power crap, this one just rocks, much more enjoyable to hear the angst that lies deep in the song than the disco-ball/strobe light inspired Gloria Gaynor version)
Goldfinger - "99 Luft Balloons" (always fun to hear a punk band sing in German)
Korn - "Word Up" (any time you can take a techno/hip-hop type song and turn it into a rocker, that's a good day - not that the original was bad at all)

Parodies
The Naked Gun (the original, not #'s 2 and 33 1/3)
Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery (the first was a brilliant Bond parody; the other two were drivel)
Airplane! (still one of the most underappreciated comedies of all time)
