Real or Memorex?

So, the question is whether this letter to the editor of the Arkansas Democrat is real or a sad attempt at satire. (Note: satire is more effective if there are clues to the satire, so that someone in this world can get it.)

My own take is that it is satire. The fact that the author is able to string together coherent sentences makes it hard for me to fathom that he (apparently the author is a man) truly believes that moving the clock ahead an hour leads to increased sunlight.
