Knowledge Workers of the World, Unite!

Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away.
—Philip K. Dick

The Republican leadership has a faith-based approach to nearly everything. They are living proof of the failure of our education system: a fondness for arbitrary assertions and a hostility to critical thinking drive their agenda.

While the faith-based approach can be endearing in a three-year-old who insists that Santa brings the presents, it's dangerous to the nation and the planet when adults who should know better drive policy through blind faith. Reality is more stubborn than any faith-based Republican leader.

Enter Scientists and Engineers for America, our nation's first science and engineering political action committee.

Chris Mooney, author of The Republican War on Science and one of the driving forces behind Scientists and Engineers for Change, the precursor to SEFORA, has an article in the November 2006 Seed Magazine and an interview with the This Week in Science podcast. (It's about 30 minutes into the podcast.)

Enjoy, and join.
