In Honor Of The Fallen

The above photo was taken at Veterans Park in Union Township, which is located in Clermont County, Ohio. Each cross represents a member of the United States military killed in Iraq and Afghanistan. On a nice day, you will see people walking their dogs, runners, and mothers with their strollers on the path that surrounds the park. The park is located on the intersection of Gleneste-Withamsville Road and Clough Pike and this tribute to our soldiers is located directly on the corner of the two streets and is rapidly growing closer to the sides of streets.

I often pass the display on my way to lunch and each time I stop for the red light, I find myself overwhelmed by the number of crosses and struck with the reality that each and every one of those crosses represents a son or daughter, a father or mother, a brother or sister who will never get to spend another day going to the park to walk their dog, get a run in before going back to work, or walk with their child.

We must never forgot that we are losing our loved ones in this war and we must continue to remind the people who represent us in Congress, the Senate, and the White House.
