The Trouble with Boys... and Girls

One of the latest videos to go viral shows a group of 8 and 9 year old girls dancing to Beyonce's song Single Ladies. Their has been a lot of outrage over the hyper-sexualization of our children. The comments have ranged from attacking the parents to labeling the girls with some pretty adult terms.

My question for everyone today is this. Do we have a double standard for how we view young girls compared to young boys?

Last summer I stumbled on a band on fountain square at Midpoint Music Festival called The Trouble with Boys. It's a punk band consisting of all 11-12 year old boys. This band just happens to be returning to Cincinnati on Friday playing again at Fountain Square.

Given how rock stars are generaly associated with sex and drugs, are we giving this band a pass because they are boys? Is it a double standard? What do you think? Let's hear your comments.
