If there have been 44 U.S. presidents, how many people have taken the presidential oath? It reads like one of those riddles you read in those quiz books in 3rd grade (you know, the surgeon is his mom, one is a nickle and the other is not a nickle, etc.), but it turns out the oath itself wasn't the only thing that got screwed up yesterday.

About 20 seconds into his inaugural address, Obama said that "...forty-four Americans have now taken the presidential oath."

That's not correct. Obama is the 44th president, but Grover Cleveland was president on two different occasions, so in fact there have only been 43 unique people that have taken the oath.

I have no doubt that right-wing nutbags will see this as some impeachable offense (or now that he's retaken the oath, perhaps this inaccuracy will now suffice as a rationale to invalidate the inauguration itself).
