Multiple ways to get involved this week

Want to get involved in the Get Out The Vote effort this weekend? Check out America Votes and register to volunteer at a phone bank or doing door-to-door work. They can definitely use any help they can get, so if you're up for it go to the website and sign up.

Are you like me and want to participate, but don't really enjoy the phone thing? There's still time to go to Act Blue to contribute to national candidates (if you need a candidate to support I highly recommend one of these two lists).

Want to rock out and learn more about the candidates and issues in the local elections? Head on out to Northside Celebrates Voting, a day long festival of bands with speeches from candidates woven in. Below is some more information about the event. Now you have no excuses.

Northside Celebrates Voting (The ultimate political party!!)

This Saturday, November 4th, from 4-10pm

In the PARKING LOT at the CORNER of HAMILTON AVE. & LINGO ST.

Bands

· 4-6pm - Baoku and The Image Afro-Beat Band (up for a CEA award in the world beat category)

· 6-8pm - The 3 Virgins - classic rock covers with a twist

· 8-10pm - Get Sweaty - “funkadelic space punk rock lost inside a washing machine floating through the eight valleys with a melody close behind” music

Each band plays 15 minute sets with 15 minute breaks where political candidates and issues representatives have an opportunity to convince you to vote their way, and other people give you info on the new voting equipment, etc.
