OK, this article makes me really trust the White House when they say they want responsible drilling in the Artic National Wildlife Reserve (ANWR). The National Trust for Historic Preservation has issued a report stating that sites such as this and this, lie undocumented and unprotected on land overseen by the Bureau of Land Management. Budget crunches are causing shortages in staff that would otherwise be used to document and protect these sites. “Further sapping the bureau is a federal mandate to speed up approval of energy development on public lands, the report said. Funds are being siphoned to assess and protect sites where companies and ranchers want to mine, graze livestock, or drill oil and gas.”
