HELP SUPPORT CITY RESOLUTION OPPOSING TROOP ESCALATION IN IRAQ

From IJPC - Cincinnati:

HELP PUSH CINCINNATI CITY COUNCIL ONTO THE PEACE PATH IN IRAQ...

HELP CINCINNATI WEIGH IN ON THE NATIONAL DEBATE ABOUT THE ESCALATION IN IRAQ...

President Bush put us on the war path when he came to Cincinnati in October 2002 to make the case for war. Council member, David Crowley, who went to the peace rally in Washington, D.C. January 27th is introducing a resolution to the finance committee in City Council to oppose additional troops in Iraq. It highlights the sacrifice of the troops and the gutting of social programs to pay for war. It includes examples of how Cincinnati’s total amount of HUD grants have decreased significantly since 2002. Also since 2002, Cincinnati has received 6.2 million dollars less each year from the federal government -- lessening Cincinnati’s ability to rebuild the urban core and meet the needs of the most vulnerable.

YOU CAN HELP MAKE THIS RESOLUTION A REALITY. Come to Cincinnati City Council’s Finance Committee Meeting on Monday, February 12th at 1pm, when the resolution will be discussed. **Please call or email Kristen if able to attend or if you have questions, 579-8547, kristen@ijpc-cincinnati.org **When you arrive, you may sign-up to speak in support of the resolution for two minutes or less. We will have three different signs available to hold, saying: ‘Stop the Escalation’ ; ‘Troops Home Now’ ; ‘Support the Resolution’.

CALL OR EMAIL CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS AND MAYOR MALLORY BEFORE MONDAY TO URGE THEIR SUPPORT OF THE RESOLUTION THAT OPPOSES ADDITIONAL TROOP INCREASES IN IRAQ.
